JinLi Invited to Indonesia

JinLi was honoured to receive an invitation from Indonesia asking us to share our knowledge and love of Tai Chi with the people in Java.

So in January, Master Tara Brayshaw and Sifu Lyn travelled to Surabaya and Jakarta to teach Tai Chi and Qigong to a variety of people in those cities. Their teaching was extremely well received and led to many of the participants wanting to take up Tai Chi on a regular basis.

Tara also had the opportunity of conducting an educational program for Rotary Surabaya. The Rotarians were very interested in the health benefits associated with Tai Chi and Qigong and much of the question time was spent focussing on the Chinese Medicine principles behind the movements. At the end of the program quite a few of the members indicated that they were going to start learning Qigong as an aid to maintaining their health and wellbeing.

Tara made full use of her time in Surabaya meeting with the principals and instructors of Yasanis Wushu School. Yasanis is the largest school in Surabaya with the director being on the Wushu Indonesia Committee (hosts of the 13th World Wushu Championships) and the Dong Yue Taijiquan Association of Indonesia. There was much time spent sharing experiences and knowledge culminating in open invitations for exchange between the two schools.

“I am in total awe of the Indonesian people, their kindness and generosity, and their willingness to share in and exchange ideas. I feel like I’ve learnt far more from them than they have from me. It has truly been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. That said, I have a feeling that this will be the first of many shared experiences between the JinLi family and the Javanese Tai Chi community… I can hardly wait!” said Master Brayshaw.
